Departing Alexandria, view the Torpedo Factory, Admiral's Row, Jones Point Lighthouse and the exciting National Harbor development. Experience the natural sights and sounds along the way, as the Potomac winds through a hardwood forest and spectacular riverbanks. See the historic military Fort Washington on the Maryland side of the river, commanding an expansive view of the area. After Riverview Park, a favorite sunset spot, begin a breathtaking approach to the Mount Vernon waterfront, estate and grounds. (Comfortable shoes are recommended for the long walk up from the wharf up to the estate and gardens.) Beyond the estate, gardens, and museum, the self-guided tour includes George Washington's Tomb, an interpretive Pioneer Farm, Forest Trail and more. Admission for all included in your cruise fare.

Short Photo Cruises from the Mount Vernon waterfront are offered aboard The Miss Christin at 1:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:00pm., for those visiting Mount Vernon by land, giving them an opportunity to see the picturesque water view offered on board. Fee for this trip is NOT included in the George Washington's Mount Vernon by Water cruise fare. Please refer to sailing schedule.

George and Martha Washington's home, with rooms faithfully painted in remarkably bright period colors and furnished with original heirlooms, presenting an authentic view of life at the estate in the 1700's. Museum and over a dozen outbuildings meticulously restored, including a major greenhouse, stables, slave quarters, and kitchen. Farm animals, costumed interpreters, and a 16-sided barn. A 6,600 square foot gift shop with year-round Christmas Corner, spectacular reproductions and specialty gifts. Food court offering casual eating (vouchers are available for groups) and an 18th century-style tavern and period dining rooms with colonial ambiance at the popular Mount Vernon Inn. George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens prohibits visitors from bringing picnics or food onto the grounds. Bottled water is acceptable.
